Shore Based Training

Weston Water Craft has the facilities to provide a wide range of shore based training giving water users the depth of knowledge and experience needed for them to enjoy their leisure activities and even reach their goals in the commercial sector.

RYA VHF/DSC Short Range Certificate Radio  Course

This 1 day course and assessment is conducted using VHF radios and DSC receivers with hands on experience and group interaction for a more realistic feel. With courses conducted in small groups each course is guaranteed the attention needed for a successful day and assessment. There is no lower age limit for this course, however the younger candidates may find the amount of information hard to handle in 1 day and several shorter sessions may be required.

RYA First  Aid

This course provides the minimum excepted certificate in first aid training required by all RYA instructors and meets the requirements of the HSE and MCA for small commercial vessel up to 60 miles offshore.  The course is usually conducted over 1 day but can be spread over several sessions.

RYA Essential Navigation & Safety Course

An essential introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating: sailors, powerboaters, sea anglers, divers and boatmasters. Also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.

This 16 hour course can be arranged to suit your diary commitments over  2 days from 0900 - 1700 or several evenings with a maximum of 4 students.

RYA Day Skipper Shore Based

This course provides a basic knowledge for the would-be skipper covering navigation, meteorology, seamanship, and everything you need to know to plan and conduct a passage in both powered and sailing craft. The courses can be spread over 5 days, 2 weekends or during evening classes.

Aimed at those who wish to expand their skills to coastal or offshore cruising this course provides a more in depth knowledge of navigation, meteorology and seamanship. The courses can be run over 7 days, 4 weekends or during evening classes.
